Community Centre Caretaker & Facilities Assistant
Hours: 14 hours per week (with occasional additional hours by agreement)
Pay: £14.13 per hour (NJC Scale 6 SCP 9)
Typical hours:
• Tuesday: 10.00am–5.00pm
• Thursday: 10.00am–12.30pm
• Friday: 10.00am–12.30pm
• Around 2 flexible hours each week for agreed maintenance, deliveries or Centre needs.
Role Purpose
To help ensure the Centre is clean, safe, welcoming and well maintained. This role complements the Centre Cleaner by providing practical caretaking, facilities and cleaning support when the Cleaner is not on duty, together with planned maintenance and building tasks.
Main Responsibilities
Provide practical caretaking and facilities support during Tuesday open access.
Support the Tuesday lunch clear up through, clearing away, kitchen clear up and cleaning afterwards.
Clean communal areas, toilets, kitchen, offices and activity rooms when required.
Carry out planned maintenance, minor repairs and basic DIY.
Prepare rooms for groups, activities and community use.
Receive deliveries and organise storage.
Monitor supplies and report maintenance issues requiring specialist contractors.
Support contractors when on site.
Follow health & safety, food hygiene and safeguarding procedures.
Person Specification
Experience in caretaking, cleaning, maintenance or facilities.
Basic DIY skills and ability to recognise when specialist repairs are required.
Able to work independently and prioritise work.
Friendly, reliable and physically able to undertake the role.
Community or charity experience desirable.
