April update 2025
OneFamily joined us at the BUCFP allotment for their company volunteering day.
Itβs been a busy month at BUCFP. The children had lots of Easter fun at our craft group and lunch clubs, which are a fun way to learn about heathy eating. The playroom allotment is in action with lots of planting ready for Summer, please check out our face book and Instagram pages to see the latest news.
April saw the start of our new group βcreative expressionβ which will run every Thursday at 11.30 in the canteen. The groups aim is to convey thoughts, emotions and ideas through creative means. No experience needed, just turn up on the day and stay for lunch if you wish. Janina will be leading the group and will offer guidance and of course a very warm welcome.
We still have yoga, twice a week Tuesday and Thursday at 11.45, these classes are popular but no need to book.
We organised a corporate volunteer day at our allotment during April, it was a lovely day and our volunteers did a great job painting the shed and clearing some space in the allotment. If you are work for a company and are allowed volunteering days, then get in touch to see what we can offer you.
We really appreciate all the items donations we receive HOWEVER we are not accepting anymore at the moment - we have run out of space. We will let people know as and when we are accepting new items.
As always a massive thank you to all our volunteers, BUCFP only runs because of your loyalty and dedication, we couldnβt do it without you.
Please add us on Facebook and Instagram to see the latest updates!

March update at BUCFP
The sun is finally shining here at BUCFP. Volunteers and centre users were invited to our allotment to see what needs doing for Spring. It was a great success and means we have some new volunteers on board. Even if you have no gardening experience itβs a really great project to support and we have some very experienced volunteers who can show you the ropes. If you would like to get involved, please speak to Claire of Carol.
Richard from welfare rights organised an Energy saving group along with BHESCO (Brighton and Hove energy saving co op) this month. We had a really good turnout for the event and hope to work with them in the future.
As always a huge Thank you to all our volunteers for their hard work and dedication, the centre couldnβt run without you.
Please like and follow us on Facebook, then youβll get the latest info on whatβs happening.
February at BUCFP
February has been filled with lots of well attended groups.
The children from the playroom have had a wonderful time making goodies to share and learning about healthy snacks. We also hosted our monthly Healthy eating lunch club where 14 children and Mumβs joined us in half term with the theme Colours of the world.
We have some more dates coming up so please check out our facebook page for dates.
This month we ran 2 workshops where clients were shown how to take their own blood pressure, we had a good turn out and hope to run similar workshops soon.
We also had 2 Money boost workshops from the Russell Martin foundation, centre users learnt how to save money, spend money wisely and effective ways around budgeting within the home. This proved to be really popular and we would love to run more in the future.
We are always open to ideas about courses or workshops that centre users might be interested in so do let staff or volunteers know if you have thoughts of what you like to see here.
Please follow us on facebook and like and share our posts, it helps to spread the word in the local community about the fantastic things we offer.

Volunteer Celebration Day 2024.
Thanks to all who came! - The centre is run by volunteers for the benefit of all users, alongside a small team of part time paid workers.
On the 9th July we finally hosted our annual Volunteer Celebration Day to thank all our volunteers for the amazing help they are giving to BUCFP in supporting our service users. It was a bit later this year as we usually do it during #volunteersweek
In the past financial year our volunteers provided services to about 1150 service users.
We celebrated their achievements with food, music, party games and other activities to get to know each other better and to have fun together.
A big thank you again to all our precious amazing caring and dedicated volunteers!
