We provide free childcare and are an Ofsted regulated early years setting (link to our latest Ofsted report). We follow the Early years Foundation Stage curriculum and are open for 4 mornings a week (Tuesday – Friday 10 am-1pm) for children from 0- 7 years.
The playroom is staffed by The Early years/Parent support Co-ordinator and Deputy Playroom Co-ordinator, 3 sessional supervisors and a team of volunteers, all DBS / health checked.
Spaces are allocated on a “first come first served basis” and are available for people volunteering or using the centre. Parents must remain in the building. Each child will need a registration card filled in for them before they come to a playroom session.
We are a child focused and led setting with the emphasis being on learning through play. Play is often messy and includes activities such as gluing, painting, sand and water. We play outside in Tarner Park in all weathers and have a little growing area and a mud kitchen. We provide aprons and waterproofs but we advise that children will get messy and need to be dressed in clothes its ok to get dirty in.
Volunteers are key to the development and the running of the playroom. Volunteers take part in the day-to –day running of the playroom and work with children. Volunteers are supported with supervision and training opportunities, travelling expenses, free lunch and entitlement to a reference.
Please get in touch if you are interested volunteering in the playroom, either by downloading a volunteer registration form from this site and sending it to us/coming in to bucfp and filling in a form/ contacting the volunteer co-ordinator Ellie Moulton firstname.lastname@example.org
